How do I disable the automatic hardware detection process during startup?
During startup, Win 98 can’t get past the hardware detection process to install the new display adapter. Therefore, I can’t get to Windows (not even in safe mode) to use the Device Manager to do what I need to do manually–meaning, I only get as far as DOS. So, from DOS, how do I disable the automatic detection process and have generic display drivers activated so that I may get Windows to load? OR, is it possible to install the new drivers from CD while in DOS? NOTE: The display adapter on the motherboard is completely inoperable.
You need to pull the graphics card out that cause the problem, use another card that sure works to do what you need 1st, then fix the card problem later.
