Does Diesel fuel have more or less BTU energy per pound than airplane gas?
Do they ever use diesel engines to generate electricity on big planes.

To answer your question diesel has more BTU’s than gasoline per pound. Second no diesel have not been use to produce electricity on aircraft. However diesel and now being certificated for aircraft use. In addition they are be outfitted on gyrocopters that have flown very successfully.
You must understand the diesel of years ago is not like the diesel of today. The weight factor has come down they are even coupled with gas burning engines in some cases.
